Bacs have recently underlined the importance of keeping up to date with messaging reports during Covid-19 and advised that due to their time-critical nature, all messaging reports should be downloaded and actioned within 3 working days.
Avoid additional business costs & complaints from your suppliers
If reports aren’t accessed and actioned in this time period, payments to accounts or collections against them may not be successful, resulting in failed payments or unpaid Direct Debits. Subsequently, Bacs have warned that failing to download and action time-critical reports could result in additional costs for your business, or complaints from your customers, suppliers or employees.
How to access your reports
Reports can be accessed in a few ways; via Payment Services Website (PSW), Bacstel-IP software or hardware security module (HSM). Whichever way you access them, remember to ensure that colleagues’ contact details are kept up-to-date; for example:
- If using PSW, contact details can be changed in the ‘My details’ area of the website
- For details on how to update Bacstel-IP software, refer to page 126 of the Bacstel-IP service user guide
- Service users who have configured a contact in a HSM, it is equally important that these are also checked and updated, if required (details about HSM can also be found in the same guide).
