Until now, scheduling Bacs submissions has meant one of two things; a significant investment in the purchase and installation of a hardware security module (HSM), or ensuring staff are available to sign and submit files at the appropriate times. Alternatively, you could outsource to a Bacs approved bureau that would then face the same choices.
A new and unique service from SmarterPay, the independent Hull-based payment solutions provider for businesses, has now given bureaux and service users another choice, to outsource the scheduled submission to their Bureau Certificate Service which utilises their HSM backed keystore. By loading the customer’s signing certificate into the HSM, SmarterPay will automate the submission of your files without you or your bureau needing to invest upwards of £30,000 in purchasing and maintaining your own HSM.
By automating this part of the Bacs process and removing manual signing, submissions can be quicker and more secure as well as saving the cost of multiple smartcards needed for manual signatories.
